Business areaRaw material production
The secondary raw materials sector is the fastest growing sector of the German economy. ffk environment has been active in this sector since its establishment and has concentrated on producing solid recovered fuels (SRF) from waste since 2005. According to customer requirements, we manufacture large, homogenous quantities of solid recovered fuels with a fuel value ranging from 13 to 23MJ/kg. With their diverse qualities, our products are suitable for everything from co-incineration in lignite power stations and use as a primary fuel in cement works to use in special SRF combined heat and power stations. ffk's SRF production capacity is currently around 280,000 tonnes per year - enough to replace around 350,000 tonnes of lignite. We want to considerably expand our production capacity in Germany and abroad in the coming years.
Our customers include Germany's leading energy providers and international cement manufacturers. We have also been supplying SRF to Poland since 2006. Due to wildly fluctuating fossil energy prices, the use of alternative fuels is becoming an increasingly important factor in ensuring competitiveness for power station operators and the cement industry. Alternative fuels reduce dependency on fossil fuels and result in considerable cost savings for companies when acquiring CO2 certificates. From 2013 the number of certificates issued free of charge will be greatly reduced and the appeal of our products for energy intensive sectors will increase again.
